burn to a cinder

Man, it's been a while. I should really just bite the bullet and buy a scanner (oo, alliteration) so that posting isn't such a fuss. Also because I suck at using the curves tool in GIMP.

Anyway, Louise was all "POST, YOU" so here I am.

I've actually had some success (strength of that qualifier pending, ask me in six months so I can say how bad it is in retrospect) with different views of the head in the last few weeks, but I got sick of adjusting levels in GIMP after two "scans", so this is all I'm posting for now. (Incidentally, it was really tempting to label these. Didn't have enough space, though. Oh wells.)

Coronal view of the skull! If you don't get the reference, you should really really really read Gunnerkrigg Court. (From the beginning, though - long-form comic and all.) Also I did give this guy a neck, but accidentally gave him some terrible scoliosis, so I erased it.

Aand a sagittal view of the skull. I think I've made more use of my McMinn's Atlas for sketch refs than for uni. (At least I'm finally using the thing, though.) I got all excited about drawing the styloid process of the skull (pointy thing just behind the mandible) - it's always snapped off in specimens - but then I had to cover it with vertebrae anyway. Sadface. Had fun drawing the sutures of the cranium, though.

...I ramble on way too long when it comes to anatomy, huh? BAD BARNABAS. Anyway, next post's heads will have skin. Maybe.
